Authorities rescue pitbull dogs that were forced to fight

On October 5 in the suburbs of Quito, a group of authorities, together with volunteers from animal welfare organizations, received an anonymous tip about a clandestine dog fight. The news quickly spread among animal lovers, and an operation was launched.

Upon arriving at the designated location, the rescuers found a heartbreaking scene: several pitbulls, malnourished and with visible wounds, were tied up and in deplorable conditions. This practice, unfortunately common in some areas, had gone unnoticed for a long time, until someone decided to intervene and report the situation.

The operation resulted in the rescue of more than a dozen dogs. All were taken to shelters where they would receive medical attention and rehabilitation. The authorities announced that investigations would be opened to identify and prosecute those responsible for this cruel act.
